Persons of Indian origin applying for Indian visa, OCI/PIO Card or miscellaneous consular services are required to produce a Surrender Certificate.
In the recent past, we have received enquiries from some applicants asking whether there is a cut off date for obtaining the surrender certificate following renunciation of Indian citizenship by them. It is clarified that there is no cut off date and applicants can complete the formalities at their convenience on any working day from 0900 hrs to 1200 hrs.
